The church building is nearing completion and we have scheduled our first service for December 22, the Sunday before Christmas. Our address it 830 W 1200 S, Tremonton, Utah 84337. The church is located at the end of Rocket Road (1200 S) just before you get to 1000 West (called "Iowa String"). If you are on I 15 - I 84 you can see the church from both sides of the Interstate. If you are traveling north you can see the church beside the Interstate just before I 15 and I 84 split on the north or right side of the road.
Pictures will be posted shortly.
If you are in our area please drop by and see us and see what the Lord has done! If you cannot come...please pray for us as we seek to preach the biblical Gospel here in northern Utah.

We have had a change in the weather, but it is not affecting the work inside the building. We have all the insulation up, the
electrical all roughed in and HVAC ducts finished and about a 20% of the dry wall hung. We are waiting for Questar to install
our natural gas line. We got quite a shock when they charged us a $687.00 installation charge and an additional $500 deposit!
We need heat in the building to dry the sheet rock by next week.
Outside, the parking lot is graded and they finished the side walks last Thursday. We got rain Sunday- through Tuesday and
the contractor stopped work outside. He promised to pave it by Oct. 15, but it looks like that will not happen. The asphalt plant is
still open (They close when cold weather arrives) ....hopefully the weather will clear up and stay warm enough for the next couple of
weeks.
So far we have received $1500 on the $16,000 extra the parking lot cost us. We are thanking the Lord for that.
We have two men plus Gene Absher who are helping. One is from Wyoming and the other from North Carolina. One will be here three weeks and the other I am not sure about. They are certainly a blessing. Pastor Chuck Beickle of Faith Baptist in Layton, Utah is sending up seven men today for half a day to help with the sheet rock in the auditorium. Hopefully we will get it all
done.
We are waiting for the steeple and baptistry which are supposed to be delivered by Oct. 15.
Thank you for your prayers and the help many of you have been to us!!!! Please continue to pray for us especially about the
extra cost of the parking lot.

Pastor Jack Gassaway, Richlands Baptist Church, Asheville, NC arrived with 15 men to help with construction. The group from Riverview Baptist Church, completely framed, and sheeted the building. The men from Richlands Baptist Church finished drying the building in, installing the siding, and shingling the roof. We went from a concrete slab to a dried in building in 14 days. The actual time spent working was seven and a half days. What a blessing they have been to us.

Pastor Shahn Wilburn arrived with 21 people from Riverview Baptist Church, Ripplemead, VA. The foundation and floor were finished last week. This week with their help we hope to be able to completely frame the building and roof.

Our church voted today to accept the base plan to build a 6600 sq foot building on our property at 830 W 1200 S in Tremonton, Utah. Plans are to begin construction in August as the Lord provides. Following is a draft site and floor plan.

Today we had two people come forward at the invitation. One was a lady who for many years has not attended church. She started attending several weeks ago and this morning came forward rededicating her life to Christ and to join our church. The other was a the twelve year old son of one of our members. He came on a profession of faith and will be baptized in the next few weeks. It is certainly a blessing to see people respond to God's word and want to serve Him. Pray for these two that God's perfect will be accomplished in their lives.

Today in the evening service we baptized two new members. One was a lady, a former LDS temple Mormon, recently came forward professing Jesus Christ as her Savior. The other was a young serviceman from Hill AFB who began attending in November. He had been saved some years ago, but was not attending church or had been baptized. We welcome this two into our fellowship.

Yesterday was a special day at Calvary Baptist Church in Tremonton, Utah and the answer to months of prayer. With the help of Faith Baptist Church's, Layton, Utah gift of $1000 and the offerings of our people we received enough money to pay off the remaining balance of $1652.00! The land which cost us $32,000.00 is paid for now and we are debt free! This was accomplished by the generous gifts from many supporting churches and individuals back East and the sacrificial giving of our little flock here. What a blessing to see how God has worked and in moving us closer to having our own building.
We also had two donations from within our church to begin our new building fund which amounted to $500.00. That only leaves us approximately $39,500 to go to have the money to
begin building. We are praying that we have the finances we need and will be able to begin building by the summer. As I have said many times, humanly speaking this is an impossible task. Yet, God
is able and will provide when His people are faithful.
Thank each of you so much for your prayers on our behalf and the faithful and generous giving of so many of you. What a wonderful thing to be a part of what God is doing.
We had two new couples join our church during our Christmas service on the 23rd. The husband of one family came professing Christ as his Savior and for baptism. We plan to have a baptism
hopefully in a few weeks before I go back in for surgery in February. We have two pending baptism now and are praying that others will be saved also.
Carolyn and I and the members of Calvary Baptist Church wish you a wonderful New Years as we serve the Lord and seek to accomplish His will for us all.
"Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass" (Psa. 37:4- 5).

The balance on our loan is now $l720.00! We had great attendance Sunday even with a couple of our families traveling for the holidays. The Worth and Amy familes both came forward in the morning service for membership. One of the husbands had not been baptized and came on a profession of faith and baptism. We now have two people to baptize and are making plans to baptize them next month.
December 16, 2001
Funds that came in last Sunday have dropped our loan balance to less than $2000.00!
December 14, 2001
For the past few months the Lord has certainly blessed our little church in many ways. We have been able to pay our loan debt down to only $2700.00 and we are praying that we will be able to pay off the remaining balance by the end of this year.
We have seen our attendance group with two new couples attending regularly and we had one former Mormon saved two years ago. She came forward professing her faith in Jesus Christ and presented herself for church membership and baptism.

Last week our church purchased an eighteen piece nativity scene and placed it on our property. The husband of one of our church members build us a nice large stable and last Saturday the men gathered at our house for breakfast and then we all went down and set up the nativity scene with lights. It looks great and can be seen from both sides of Interstate I15 and I84.
My health continue to improve since my surgery on Oct. 19th for the ruptured diverticulitus when part of my colon was removed and a colostomy was installed. I return to the surgeon on February 3rd to schedule my next surgery to reverse the colostomy. I certainly appreciate your prayers.

Our little church is really praising the Lord for how he is blessing us. In the past two weeks we have received $5000.00 toward paying off the loan on the property. That means we have paid off 2/3 of the cost of the property. We are praying that in about eighteen months we can begin to build. In human terms that is totally impossible. We need to pay off the debt on the lot and then raise a substantial amount of money before we can begin to build. That is quite an undertaking for our little congregation that has an attendance of only around twenty people. However, nothing is impossible with God. With God's help we follow the vision He has given us in faith. Thank you for your prayers and help.

There will be a special dedication service at 1:00 o'clock, after our morning service, on our new property located at 800 West 1200 South, Tremonton, Utah. We are praising the Lord for how He has provided the excellent property that we hope to soon build our church.

New property!
We have great news we wanted to share with you of what the Lord is doing here. Today we finalized the purchase of an acre lot here in Tremonton!
This is a corner lot located at 830 West 1200 South on a major road in Tremonton beside Interstate 15. The Lord worked all the details out including the seller accepting our first offer, the city planning commission approving our conditional use permit and being able to put down almost half the price and financing the rest with a 5% interest loan!
We are all now praying that we can pay the lot off in the next year and if the Lord provides we hope to begin construction in about 18 months. All this seems impossible, I know, but the Lord is certainly able. We have already had one church in Virginia indicate they would like to come and help with the construction!
Draftsman needed.
We need someone who will help us by taking our plans and making a professional set of building plans for us.
Forty two people help in canvasing Tremonton.
We had 42 people from Faith Baptist Church in Layton, Utah to come last Wednesday and help with our third canvassing effort. What a blessing to see a Utah church helping in such a positive way in reaching other areas with the Gospel and obeying Acts 1:8. We have now covered most of Tremonton and will next begin in the adjacent town of Garland. We have a number of contacts and visits to make. Interestingly, we had two visitors Sunday and one of them came because they received a visit and tact several months ago.
Thank each of you who are praying for us. I think you can see that God answers the pray of faith. God bless each of you.
Rejoicing in God's provision.

June 2001
It is amazing to see how God works in accomplishing His will. A year ago I was uncertain as to where God wanted us to begin a new work. We kept praying, trusting in the Lord's direction, moving forward and looking for open doors. Looking back we can see the Lord's leading in every step we took. The past ten months here in Tremonton show clearly it was God's will that we return to Utah and begin this work in Box Elder county.
As you have read in our prayer letters we have been looking land for months and praying for the Lord to lead us to the parcel He had for us. On June 14, our offer was accepted on an acre of land that is in a great location. This lot is on the corner of a new street that leads into a new housing development and a main road on the south side of Tremonton and can be seen from Interstate I15-I84. We looked at the lot earlier, but at that time the developer had not cut the new street. The city has required him to cut in the new street with curb, gutter and pavement and this will be done with no assessment to the lot. We clearly see the Lord's hand in this as the price of the lot is about half what lots that border the property are selling for! We have thoroughly investigated the property and it is perfect for our needs. God has blessed us and we have half the money we need in the bank to purchase the property and we have two banks willing to lend us the rest of money we need at a good interest rate.
On June 26, I will meet with the City Planning Commission to get approval to build a church on the property. The only thing that is uncertain is the property owners near the lot have to be notified that we intend to build a church. We are praying that they will not object and that we can get the permits we need without any trouble. The city manager and building inspector both have been very helpful and say they do not think there will be any problems in getting the permits we need. One the men in our church has a general contractor's license and we can work through him and we are praying that several churches can send groups out to help us build as we did in Beaver, Utah. Brother Gene Absher, Carpenter's for Christ, has agreed to help us with the building as the Lord leads.
We are praying for the Lord's leadership in all this and that if it is His will all will go well. In human terms this seems impossible. With such a small congregation and little funds this is totally a matter of faith, however we are hoping to be able to start construction within twenty four months or sooner. Calvary Baptist Church is the only Independent Baptist church in the Box Elder county. When our building is completed we will be the only non-Mormon, non-Catholic church in the Tremonton area with its own facilities.
December 2000
We have two new families attending now and our attendance is around fifteen people.
October, 2000
The six people we started the church with have stopped attending because of doctrinal differences. They were particularly offended that I took a stand against the false teachings of Charismatic and Pentecostal movements. Another problem they had was that the church is a Baptist church and strictly follows the New Testament teachings concerning baptism, church membership. They wanted a non-denominational community church where doctrine was not an issue. Of course the Lord does not allow us to compromise or disgard the teachings of the Bible and our church stands soundly and without compromise on God's word. It is our sole authority for our faith and practice.
September 17, 2000
We had three new ladies attend services today.
September 10, 2000
We held our first service with six local people attending, Mike and Michelle Stubbing, and their son Michael who are friends from our last work at Grace Baptist Church, in Price. This week we also received a check from Faith Baptist Church of Onley, VA for $500 and we opened our bank account in the name of Calvary Baptist Church of Tremonton.
August 12, 2000
Carolyn and I arrived in Tremonton on August 12, 2000. We strongly felt the Lord was leading us back to Utah. We had done survey work in NE, SD, WY, MT and ID but had no clear leading of the Lord. We had no contacts in Tremonton so we put an ad in the local paper asking for anyone interested in seeing an Independent Baptist Church started to call our North Carolina cell phone number. One couple responded and we decided to see if we could secure a meeting place. The director of the local Senior Citizens Center graciously agreed to let us rent their building on Sundays so we schedule our first service for September 10, 2000.
